Infection Control

Infectious diseases are spread through blood and body fluids like saliva.  The first step in adequate infection control is to ensure that patients do not come into contact with someone else’s body fluids. For your safety, all our clinical staff members wear disposable safety masks, gloves and disposable scrub uniforms.

We sterilize all our instruments in an Melag Class B autoclave (steriliser) that exceeds standards recommended by the Ministry of Health. All instruments are either high grade steel or titanium that can tolerate sterilization under high pressure at 134° Celsius.

We appreciate that some patients may be apprehensive about treatment. We provide the following to make your dental experience a pleasant one:

Reduced X-Rays

Our digital X-Ray equipment reduces radiation by 75% and we are able to identify problems early and safely, thus reducing treatment cost and time.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Crowns

If you are having a tooth colored crown made it could be a porcelain metal crown or with new technology available today it could be a full porcelain crown. To have enough strength to withstand biting forces, porcelain crowns always used to be built on a metal core. This may result a dark blue or black line at the gum level due to the metal inside the crown.

Sleep Apnea

The Greek word "apnea" means "without breath".

Sleep apnea is a common disorder in which you may actually stop breathing while you sleep.

There are three types of sleep apnea.  Central sleep apnea is a condition where the brain does not send a signal to the body to breathe.  Obstructive sleep apnea is a condition where there is a physical obstruction to inhibit breathing.  The last type of sleep apnea is Mixed, where there is an obstruction to breathing and a brain signal issue.  The Obstructive Sleep Apnea is the most common type.

In all three types, people with untreated sleep apnea stop breathing  or breath insufficiently to keep their blood oxygen saturation up.   This can occur hundreds of time an hour.  Each time it occurs, the brain arouses the individual to resume "normal" breathing.  This results in interrupted and poor quality sleep.
